Billikins, Angels Advance



In a Varsity Girls High school district basketball game where St. Joseph Academy walked in with the number one seed but a .500 record surprised us all and beat the McCluer North Stars 50-43. McCluer came in to this game ending the season with a 21-10 record.

The first quarter ended with McCluer ahead by a single point with a score of 14-13. At Half time however St. Joseph was leading by a basket 24-22.  The third quarter had a score of 7-5 in favor of St. Joseph Academy. Both teams had their best scoring in the final quarter with McCluer scoring 16 and St. Joseph scoring 19 to keep the lead.

McCluer was led by top scorer # 3 Nasha with 11 points. St. Joseph was led by Sophie Vogt and will now go onto face Parkway North.  This game will take place on 3/9/16 at 7:45 at Lindenwood University.(David Altman contributed to this report)

SLUH defeated Webster Grove 55-39 in varsity boy’s high school district finals Friday evening. SLUH had a 16-9 record in the regular season which earned them second seed.  Webster Grove had the number one seed after only losing one game in the regular season.

SLUH jumped out in the lead and never relinquished it after a 15-9 in the first quarter. SLUD added 13 more before halftime and the defense held Webster to 7 points going into halftime 28-16.  The third quarter was fairly even with Webster scoring a dozen beating SLUH’s 11 points.  The final quarter had SLUH sinking 11 points and Webster pouring it on with 13 points.

Ramey was top shooter for Webster Grove. Nester led SLUH with 21 points as well SLUH now goes on to face Jackson.  This game will take place at 7:45 on 3/9/16 at Jefferson College. (Liz Neuf contributed to this report)
