After a brief hiatus between the fall season and the winter season it was nice to return home to the school I spent shooting for most of the fall. A lot of familiar smiles greeted me as I entered the gymnasium.
To start the evening off we started with the freshmen boys Panthers hosting the Vikings from Parkway North. Their fast offense and strong defense helped them with a lead of 15 – 3 at the end of the first quarter. This became a game from this point on who wanted it more. Panthers clawed their way back to within two with nine seconds left on the clock but lost steam as the buzzer sounded giving the Vikings a win 27 – 25. Jermaine Lacy and Tymez Barnett were the top scorers.

The JV Panthers came out flying however against the Vikings ending the first quarter ahead by two 11 – 9. Before half time the Panthers had racked up another fifteen points and allowed the Vikings two points. Half time score was 26 – 11. The Vikings came out forceful in the third scoring 16 points and holding the Panthers to 8 points. The Panthers continued but the Vikings kept coming back and ended the game with the score of 43 – 39 in favor of the Panthers. Another minute of the clock may have changed the outcome. Top scorers were Damarion Jones and AJ Sandford.
Although we were not covering the Varsity game our hats off to several different school groups that were running Christmas drives for one organization or another. When we left at the end of the first quarter the Panthers were leading the Vikings by four. Later reports on Twitter suggest that the Panthers won in OT 59 – 56.
Other hoop action included all three levels of boys playing at Fox High School where the freshmen Warriors were hosting St. Peters and the other two levels were hosting Ft. Zumwalt.
